The board's chairman, Mentor Arifaj, had given a 1,000-euro donation to Albin Kurti's party in the last elections of October 6, 2019, where LVV came in first.
Several months later, Kurti's government has named its donor as chairman on the interim board of the Kosovo Post.
Donation for Albin Kurti's party has confirmed Arifaj himself, while he has said that he has done so entirely voluntarily.
I volunteered, without any agreement, that's very voluntary and consistent laws, whether in Kosovo or from where I've been living. I have given 1,000 euros for Vetevendosje Movement”, said the chairman of the Post's interim board, Mentor Arifaj, for Calexo.com.
He has denied to influence this donation to take a position today on the Kosovo Post board.
No, I didn't. There's a remark on the list because it's writing as a member, but absolutely I'm a member of the Vetevendosje Movement. This is the only one, that I have given away or whatever something to a political party”, he said.
On April 2nd, the incumbent executive appointed the interim board of the Kosovo Post.
Mentor Arifaj has not denied that he has personally recognised the incumbent prime minister, Albin Kurti, while saying he recognises members of other parties, but has not influenced him to be at the head of the interim board on the Kosovo Post.
According to Ariphaj, he had first gone to the minister, Rosette Hajdari. To congratulate him on his new task and then to speak of his commitment.
I was never contacted by anyone from the party to become a leader or a board member. I have come to Kosovo in January this year for my family's reasons, and I have expressed interest in being locked up somewhere to contribute. I have personally gone to MEPTINIS and spoken to the minister, wished him the job, and told him that while I am in Kosovo at this time, if you need anything, I am able to cooperate, whether as a professional or as an outside consultant. Based on my professionalism, we're coming to the conclusion that I'm on board at Posta”, he said.
Arifaj said that in the past he has also given money for the protection of the Kosovo Liberation Army war, while mentioning two of the KLA commanders who are protected by international justice.
In the end, Arifaj has denied that he is part of the Vetevendosje Movement membership.
I don't really remember the amount, when the KLA war was protected, I don't like to be told if I contributed a euro or a 100 euros, but I just mentioned two names: Ramush Haradinaj or Mr. Fatmir Limaj. At that moment, I thought it was the least possible thing to contribute to”, he said.
I personally am not of the Vetevendosje Movement, nor of any other political party”, Mentor Arifaj said.
