Albania-born Albanian helps hundreds of families in the Bronx, New York, who have lost money and food in pandemic times.
According to a report broadcast by REL, Nilaj does so through his organization, which he formed in 2014. According to him, the greatest need is for food.
We've all donated the supplies. We take part from the state-owned Food Bank. While other foods give various organisations, different businesses. We also have Albanian businesses that have been very supportive. We've had a flow of food coming in and taking food during the day”, says Neilaj, broadcast Telegragraphy.
According to him, those in need come to the food store at 7: 00 a.m., while those who are unable to receive food are sent to their homes.
The <x0cytuata is such that everyone is afraid to get on the street. We too are afraid, because at any moment we can get infected. We deal with hundreds of people every weekend and every day with [food] delivery. But this is a humanitarian process that we cannot stop. Those people are addicted. They're in the middle of two difficulties, economic difficulties and the difficulty of the virus”, Neilaj says.
The organisation “Albanian é American Open Hand Association” has a total of 28 volunteers.
