Former VV chairman Ymer criticises the government: Nothing Different From the Past

In an interview for Online Economics, Ymer says he has not seen a government so far differently than those of the past. According to him, even the coalition partners' slogan that they will rule differently and that nothing will be the same is just a huge exaggeration.

I think some of the changes are, of course, necessary and good. So even Kurt from the prime minister's position has begun to understand that being a person in the leadership of government means that you have to have more responsibility even in the way you behave and the way you speak, especially in what and how it works, Umer said.

According to him, it has been a major exaggeration to the much promoted change by the two coalition partners that they will rule differently, even with that slogan saying nothing will be the same.

So far I have not seen a government that knows how different apart from some attempts, and especially this of tax removal, in which I think decisions are of vital importance for Kosovo more are being treated as material for public relations than the serious decisions of a state”, Ymer said.

Kurti's decision, which the fee for the first subject coming to Kosovo from Serbia and Bosnia, is seen as a mistake by Ymer.

He says lifting the tax without profit is the wrong and pressing decision.

“If the tax is being lifted due to international pressure, do we think that this international pressure will change in April, since we are now at the end of February and the implementation of the first part of the issue is going to start on March 15th, then do we think that by April 1st, when some of the deadlines have been given, this international pressure will change, I don't think it will change. Even in this direction if international pressure does not change and the demand remains the same until April 1st, what will the prime minister do. Will he still give up some of his demands and if we continue, then I think that's about an infantic policy which can hardly be taken seriously especially by our partners outside”, he said.

For the idea of replacing the reciprocity tax, however, it has been very good. However, it expects Kosovo institutions, and especially from the prime minister to first elaborate on what reciprocity is, to address and test the possibility of implementing such a thing.

Ymer also commented on publishing the literature between former Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci and former NATO Secretary Andres Fogh Rasmussen in 2013, in which Thaci guaranteed that the KSF would not go north without KFOR reconciliation, which Kurti said was a secret agreement.

For this, Ymer, who was an MP at the time in the Kosovo Assembly, says it is problematic that it has been kept secret and has not been told MPs.

“Such a correspondence, it is problematic that has been kept secret first by Prime Minister Thaci. Because I was an MP at the time and we, although it was highly talked about that there was such a literature, it was never published and it was never told at least the MPs, but why not the public that, for certain reasons, we have this temporary definition that we should accept”, Ymer said.

But Ymer says he has no clear reason why Kurt chose this moment, to make such a correspondence public.

I find this way of discovering this agreement pointless, and don't propose any steps for the company in this regard. The discovery in itself has seemed very problematic, in two ways so that as the kind of error on one side since there is no strategy behind, since there is no intention of reaching out to this agreement, then it seems to have been practically done just to show that here when Thaci was prime minister has made such pledges and in this way I think it is a aspect of the internal political war, which has an extremely dangerous dimension for the Republic of Kosovo because I think in no way does our partnership with internationals, especially with the states that have helped Kosovo to jeopardise the internal war, the Y<> said.
