Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Vullin has declared Serbia “is the free country, and no one dares mix with how it equips its army”.
“As a military, neutral country, Serbia is obliged to be ready and able to defend itself and all Serbs wherever they live. There is no reason for any sanctions to be implemented against Serbia, and I am convinced that no country that respects Serbia's right to decide for its” arming, has claimed Voulin.
As claimed at the Serbian Defence Ministry's statement, Voulin has added that Serbia “is not a colony and that it itself will decide which friendly countries it will buy” weapons.
The US Embassy in Serbia yesterday has reiterated that it is worried that Serbia is being equipped with weapons from Russia and has called on Belgrade to give up transactions with Moscow or otherwise follow US sanctions on Serbia.
