Merkel meeting with migrants, German government takes racism seriously

German Chancellor Angela Merkel met today with representatives of migrants' groups to ensure that the government takes the issue of racism seriously, following several attacks by far-right activists in recent months.

Merkel said the government had already launched a package of measures following the attack on a synagogue in Hale last month and voiced hope that it would have an effect, the AP reports.
