Germany and France are closely co-ordinating preparations for the Paris Summit, which will be a kind of continuation of the meeting, which was held in Berlin last year.
This has been confirmed for the Serbian newspaper Blic '%s' by German Chancellor Angela Merkel's office. On the other hand, Brussels has stressed that the new summit “will have discussions on the steps needed to create agreements” between Belgrade and Pristina, broadcast news.net.
The paper stresses that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's announcement of the tax removal on April 1st under specific conditions was rejected by Serbia and the United States.
According to Blicit '%s', if the tax is lifted more immediately, the gathering of officials from Pristina and Belgrade at a table will not be distant.
That is what French President Emmanuel Macron, who has suggested that Kurti first fully lift the tariffs.
German fully supports the quick continuation of EU-led dialogue for normalising Serbia-Kosovo relations under the auspices of EU High Representative Joseph Borel than mediator. In this context, France and Germany are closely co-ordinating the meeting held on April 29, 2019 in Berlin”, they have told the Serbian newspaper from Merkel's office.
On Monday at the White House, a meeting has been held between Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq. The latter has stated that it requires the removal of the tax to continue dialogue with Kosovo, and has called on Kosovo representatives not to call on Serbia for recognition, since it only exacerbates the situation, reports the news.
On the other hand, Thaci has not indicated what has been discussed at this meeting, but has said the following days will report to the Kosovo Assembly and to citizens.
