Prof. Dr. Masoud Mardani, member of the Scientific Committee for the new coronavrus (COVID-19) in Iran, warned of <x1) catastrophic “xx2> unless the travel stop is implemented to the place where some 2,000 people from the pandemic have lost their lives.
Merdani praised for the Anadolu Agency (AA) developments and measures related to COVID-19 in Iran.
He said the speed of the virus spread in Iran is higher than that in China.
We noticed the epidemic after it spread to the country. The first confirmed cases at Qm, appeared several weeks ago. Isolation was not realized during this period, and the epidemic that began at Coom spread to other towns”, he said.
Mardani argued that every day 100 to 150 people die from COVID-19, while thousands are diagnosed with the virus, adding that the data the health ministry publishes is only cases recorded in hospitals.
If no visits to the Navruz holiday are prevented, that means disaster is at the door”, Mardani said.
US “Sanctions cause death to increase”
Mardan further stressed that some of the people do not take the epidemic seriously, adding that US sanctions on Iran negatively influence the fight against coronavirus.
US “Sanctions cause death to rise”, he said.
Meanwhile, he also praised the aid of several countries, including Turkey.
The “top of countries that sent humanitarian aid to Iran are Turkey, Qatar, China and the United Arab Emirates”.
He also spoke of the devoted struggle of medical personnel against COVID-19.
In Qom alone, 40 doctors and 130 nurses resulted in positive coronavirus. Many doctors and nurses were lost in this fight”, Mardan said.
Iran's disease first emerged in the town of Qom on February 19 as it then spread to all provinces.
The death toll from COVIED-19 in Iran has increased to 1,934, as 122 people have lost their lives in the last 24 hours.
Coronavius, officially known as COVID-19, first appeared in Wwan, China, last December and has spread to at least 167 countries and territories.
