50 Syrian refugees have arrived in the city of Gjirokastra overnight. Refugees who have arrived so far are mainly from Syria while belonging to different age groups, having been displaced from their home countries.
They have entered from Greece, a state that has been facing a huge influx of refugees since Turkey's opening the border. This has also prompted Albanian authorities to take measures and plan waiting centres, as they are an entrance door to European Union countries.
Currently, refugees who have arrived in Gjirokastra are taking refuge at the Gerhot Preservation Centre, about two kilometers north of Gjirokastra.
After the crisis in Europe with refugees from Syria, safe sources for Top Channel suggest that four institutions in the country are discussing taking responsibility in such a situation and is supposed to become nearly six host centres, which could be located south of the country on the border with Greece. Meanwhile, according to data from the same sources, about 30,000 refugees are expected to be directed in our country.
