German Chancellor Angela Merkel reports Germany and France are being co-ordinated to mediate a new Kosovo-Serbia table. From Washington, the presidents Thaci and Vucic require unconditional dialogue.
Germany and France plan a Paris Sam as the April 29, 2019 in Berlin to normalise reports between Kosovo and Serbia.
This is confirmed to the newspaper “Blic” by German Chancellor Angela Merkel's office.
According to the Serbian daily, if Kosovo abolishes the fee immediately, the gathering of officials from Pristina and Belgrade will not be distant.
“German fully supports the quick continuation of the EU-led dialogue on normalising Serbia-Kosovo relations, under the auspices of EU High Representative Jouseb Burj,” announced Chancellor Merkel's office.
Development comes as the presidents of the two countries, Hashim Thaci and Aleksandar Vucic, met at the White House on Monday on the same topics.
“A good will has been shown to move things forward in the interest of both countries, and for the end of the dialogue to come as soon as possible with a final agreement, which implies mutual recognition, no less or more, under current territorial integrity,” said Thaci told Radio Free Europe.
At the meeting, organised by US Special Emissary Richard Grenwell, and National Security Adviser Robert O'Braya, Vucic stressed that the 100% tariff removal is a condition to continue the dialogue.
The Kosovo government, with Prime Minister Albin Kurtin, has said the removal will come gradually if Serbia halts the campaign against the country's independence, but this seems difficult after Serbian top diplomat Ivica Dacic confirmed that the state of West Africa, Sierra-Leone, has drawn recognition of Kosovo on Tuesday.
The news came during Dacic's visit to the country, where he said that with 92 states, Kosovo already has no majority support at the United Nations Organisation.
