Economic Odays Seek Government to Meet Decision on COVID-19

Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo should show increased care for the economic risk that could threaten the country, especially small and medium-sized enterprises from this virus. Therefore, to prevent escalation and potential damage that could be caused, the Economic Oda of Kosovo and the American Economic Oda support the Community of Accountators' demand to delay tax financial reporting deadlines, such as good example and means for easing private sector burden. 

There are some worrying issues in the government-published decision as preventive measures against COVID-19, for which treatment of the Kosovo Economic Oda and the American Economic Oda believe the government should take action. Among these is the issue of right in paying off for one parent, in cases when families have children who need care. Economic Odas believe that the Government should compile and publish an administrative directive or instruction of another form on the functioning of this system. Meanwhile, the government must clarify the legal basis for resolution of conflicts in the event the suspension approval is lacking from both companies in which parents work, respectively, and for failing to abide by the decision, including specifically the sentences.

The cost of this arrangement is another matter for reevaluation. More specifically, the Kosovo Economic Oda and the American Economic Oda believe that in the event of extending the state of emergency for more than imagined, this legal obligation will have merit costs for companies, while the Government must foresee measures to reduce the effect of the same through subsidies. This is of particular emphasis on cases of economic activity where work cannot be carried out by distance, which in the event of a prolonged state of emergency, could also result in eventual bankruptcy of companies and as a result of massive job losses.

Kosovo's Economic Oda and the American Economic Oda recommend the Government of Kosovo that in the event of continuing employment demand from the employer for the employee even when the latter is not at work, consider the possibility of setting up a minimum government-invented wage, or paid by the employer with the possibility of compensation from the government after testifying through banking transactions and statements in ATK.
