The reason they are paying so much attention is because they think this will bring down President”, Mick Mulvaney said.
Speaking to a group of conservatives on Friday, he said people should ignore the media in order to calm the markets.
Global markets have continued to decline as the COVIED-19 Coronervirus has already affected over 50 countries in the world.
Since it first appeared in China, last December, the disease has affected 82,000 people, while 2,800 patients have died.
All but 3,664 cases and 57 deaths were reported in China.
The number of Americans infected with coronary is 60.
“We took extraordinary steps four or five weeks ago,” said Mulvaney, referring to the order of the Trump administration to close the border for foreign travellers coming from China.
This measure was widely covered by the media at the time.
