Renowned Albanian surgeon: I performed 10,000 Laparascope operations, returned my dignity with wages

At the “conference Challenges and solutions to health” organised by the Konrad Adenhauer Foundation, Beqiri recalled that health in the country was not born when it came to the government on the left.

According to the surgeon, the removal of nurses and doctors should be an alarm bell.

Very soon not only will there be free medicine but there will be no Albanian medicine, in the first sense. At the rate of leaving health personnel, over 800 doctors removed since 2013 present an alarming situation that really requires drastic intervention. We with the thoughts they give are not to improve the system, if this idea can be created. We're in antagonism with this system. I want to tell you a simple fact. At the Infermieria branch at Shkodra University, over 90% of nurses there enter with a German degree in their pocket. I think after that, you need to ask questions about where you want to study or live. Or do you want to stay”, the surgeon stressed.

For the former health minister, doctors need dignity and salaries that enable them to be appreciated, bringing to the attention the opposition leader Basha's promise of 1,200 euros wages to doctors and 700 euros to nurses.

Whether to raise salaries is very important. There will be an immediate impact on the failure to evacuate personnel. I'll just give a simple impression, after a similar health table they developed last year, the message that had the most impact on the hospital environment was that of Mr. Basha for the rise of wages. People have nature and a tendency to forget quickly, forget what we say about politics and laws. Our task is to keep our promises based. So that in our promises there will be no lies”, the former health minister said.
