Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama, from Moscow, declared there is no reason not to recognise Kosovo as an independent state.
At a joint media conference with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, he said the two have also discussed the Kosovo issue.
We've been discussing this and, as you see, we're discussing this with you publicly. We are far away because our positions are very clear. I think it is good for everyone, including Serbia, to know Kosovo as it is. Of course this does not rule out the opposite, we will support the dialogue all the way, the reconciliation process, finding a common point to enable this recognition”.
The Albanian prime minister stresses that non-recognition is the wrong principle and that it is the initiative that does not promise progress.
He also commented on Lavrov's stance, who has confirmed that many agreements within Kosovo- Serbia has not been realised.
It is true what the minister who has many aspects of dialogue said, many agreements have not seen the light of reality in terms of implementation. I explained it to the minister where we should restart the process, because when it comes to the agreements I think the parties blame each other. But I don't want to get in there saying the Serbian side has not fulfilled the agreements, because it doesn't help”.
The people's will cannot be double when it comes to recognition, or what people's will brings to the population, for a population like that of Albanians in Kosovo, who believed they did not want to stay under the rule of a state, essentially dictatorial. So I don't see why others have the right to have their own state and Kosovo doesn't”.
Rama stands in Moscow in quality of O leader The SEU, with whom he held a meeting with Lavrov, was discussed with particular emphasis on the conflict in Ukraine.
