Spain's legend, Real Madrid and Portos, Iker Casillas, will retire from his career as goalkeeper, as he has made his candidacy public for the position of president of Spain's Football Federation, according to Ports President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa.
Iker Casillas suffered a heart attack on Porton practice in May last year and, although he has not played since then in any match, 38-year-olds never announced his retirement, despite becoming part of the club's July technical staff. The position of president of the Spanish Federation had indicated that even the retirement notice would come soon.
Even though the doorkeeper has not yet spoken publicly about the matter, Pinto da Costa claims that Casillas has told him that his days as a player are over, as he is preparing to compete against current president of the Spanish Federation, Luis Rubyales.
I was very happy. Casillas has a behavior that touched me because before he was formalizing his candidacy, he came here, set me up for dinner and told me he would make this decision and that his days as a player” were over, Pinto da Costa said.
He's had a wonderful career, during which he's only been in two clubs and we know he's got the two clubs at his heart.
