According to foreign media, Telegrafi traces, security camera footage shows Tobias Ratjes in Hanau less than a week before opening fire on what is being considered a racist terrorist attack.
The bar was one of two targeted Wednesday evening in an extremist attack that sparked a wave of fear and anger in Germany.
Ratsjen reportedly opened fire in a neighbourhood after posting a video and a 24-page online manifeste in which he outlined his neo-Nazi beliefs and theories and conspiracy theories.
The nine victims in the bars were all from a migrants' belt, five of them Turkish citizens, authorities say.
After the attacks, six more people were injured.
According to prosecutors, Ratjemen later went home to his apartment and shot his 72-year-old mother in the head, and later killed himself.
