The group for the Balkans held the “conference Endowing the role of the group of women MPs through regional co-operation and developing relations with media”.
For empowering the role of women MPs, but women in general also spoke of Kosovo Assembly Speaker Vjosa Osmani.
She said the representation of women in the Assembly after the 6 October elections shows the woman's advancement and role in Kosovo.
She also said that representation of women in government is historical, since 5 out of 15 ministries are led by women.
“Gras this time are election winners. In the last parliamentary elections, women scored records each. Aside from both the election results and representation in institutions, the number of women in the Assembly, without the help of gender quota, is the highest ever. Of the 39 women elected in the assembly 29 are of no gender quotas that make up a higher number sometimes. There have never been more women in ministerial positions in the government. Of 15 ministries, 5 are led by women, or 33 percent“, she said.
Osmani also spoke of replacing MPs, where he said the Law for General Elections has determined that replacing MPs should be done with equal gender candidates
This has meant to protect the gender candidates least represented in the assembly by maintaining representation of at least 30 percent. This provision does not presuppose that there can be representation in the Assembly at least 30 percent can be achieved without the help of gender quota. This law will be the focus of attention to ensuring equality of women's rights“, she said.
“As chairman of the assembly, we aim for friendship groups to have as many women as possible, to give space to developing women and parliamentary diplomacy. To increase the presence of the savages in the realm of parliamentaryism”, she said.
According to it, other than political dimension society institutions should provide support to women to eliminate all barriers that enable their professional political commitment.
She said she would commit to having the woman's position in the country empowered to be respected and treated equally.
While adding that dignified representation women will also have in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, claiming there will be no more photos where only men are seen representing Kosovo in the dialogue.
Kosovo's “History of success and international evidence that peace has been achieved with places where women have been at the table. In this mandate we never see again the picture of 14 men going to Brussels representing Kosovo, becoming all together, not allowing it, it does matter if those men are our parties. Kosovo women have had a key role in decision-making processes, I hope that this time we will have greater representation. We need medical assistance regardless of whether or not we're talking about the economic fee for media inviting women into discussions”, Osmani said.
While Alan Bowman, Canada's non-resident ambassador to the Republic of Kosovo, spoke excitedly with the speech of Chief Officer Osmani, as he said international negotiations involving women have better epilogues, while added that women are productive even in state administration.
Mrs. Osmani, for this motivating speech. In Canada women's empowerment and equality are at the core of our policies. Canadians have high values we want to do what's right. And whatever you do, if you do justice, you do it. International negotiations involving women have better epilogues. The state administration that included more women more tend to professionally behave”, he said.
Jenny Stenberg Sorvold, deputy ambassador to the Norwegian Kingdom in Kosovo, said the state from which comes ranks as one of the most equal states in gender equality. So he said Kosovo should also make efforts in this area.
“Grath and men have the same right to their future. Women are equally represented. The participation of women is on the pillar of the welfare of our country. We are still proud that we have made achievements in gender equality. Norway ranks as one of the most equal states in gender equality“, she said.
Nora Dudishku from the Group for the Balkans said that under the project through development under the project, the group has organised municipal consultations with Asambliste women and deputy women and media representatives.
“Discutions aimed at closing the gap. In recent years the group has been working closely with parliamentary women, women will be part of tables such as internal dialogue, dialogue with Serbia, etc. “, she said.
According to the Group for the Balkans, political parties must portray and develop more sweeping domestic democracy through the implementation of a gender quota that protects women's role in party decision making.
