Minister of Education, Science and Technology Hykmete Bajrami, on his second day of work, has visited the headquarters of the United Education Union. According to a report by the SBASK, members of this union have notified the new minister of current challenges and commitments.
The announcement also reportedly that SBASK members have told Bajram that the upcoming strikes in the country by teachers took place because the other side had not reflected their demands.
At the first meeting with Minister Bajrami, representatives of the SBASK have sought to work on the issue of three-year-old education workers, who are in the education system, in order to find accepted solutions for them. At this meeting, representatives of the SBASK have remembered that this union has always been committed to resolving issues with dialogue, but when the other side has not reflected then the strikes, which have not been and are not the will of the SBASK, but are taken by respecting the voice of employees in education”, the report says.
There are required joint meetings of the Ministry, municipal and union directors to debate all issues in education and “to make common commitments to overcome problems and challenges”.
“Minister Bajrami has indicated that she has a lot of knowledge about the work and commitments of the SBASK and that respect for this union and willingness for joint commitments in the ministry of education has expressed by making this visit since the second day of engagement in the minister's post in August. The minister has declared that all issues related to education in Kosovo will be discussed jointly and jointly will have sincere commitments to resolving the demands of education workers, but also to increasing commitments in all educational institutions in order to build quality and improve working conditions in our schools”, the SBASK report concludes.
