Germany's president congratulated Thaci for 12th anniversary of independence

He has further written that in these twelve years of independence Kosovo has come a long way, but according to him, it is still ahead of major tasks.

Mr. President,

You and all citizens and citizens of the Republic of Kosovo wish you a anniversary of independence.

Kosovo and Germany link good long-term relations. In these twelve years of its independence, Kosovo has come a long way. Yet, it is still ahead of major tasks. First of all, sustainable reforms in the field of justice and rule of law are needed to strengthen Kosovo economically and draw it closer to the European Union. In addition, the central for Kosovo and the Western Balkans in general is to make progress in achieving a comprehensive agreement with Serbia, which contributes to the stability of the whole region. Germany will remain a partner alongside Kosovo in this matter as well.

Even on behalf of all the German citizens, I want you and all the citizens of Kosovo a future in peace, prosperity and freedom.
