In a country of 17.4 million people, 67,695 electric vehicles were sold last year, crossing Germany, which has over 82 million people, and 63,491 electric cars were sold in 2019.
The Netherlands, with 67,695 vehicles sold and Germany with 63,491 units, was Europe's largest electric car markets for 2019, Kosovo Press broadcasts.
Although it is not the largest market in the number of sold electric vehicles, Norway boasts most of the electricity market in sales of new cars last year, which stood at 42.4 percent.
Analysts say the share could rise to 60 per cent this year. The most sold electric car in Norway is Tesla Model 3.
By the way, more than 290,000 electric vehicles were sold into the European Union last year, nearly double the 2018 figure, according to data from the European Automotive Producers Association (ACEA). Sales rose 93.8 percent to 290,923 vehicles on an annual basis, reports ACEA.
According to ACEA, the sales of hybrid vehicles increased by nearly 50 percent in 2019 to 465,026 units, and the sale of hybrid Plug cars with batteries loaded with power cuts increased by 13.9 percent to 174,103 units.
Alternative energy vehicles make up 10.7 per cent of total sales of EU vehicles in 2019, from a 7.5 per cent share a year ago.
At the same time, sales of oil cars dropped 13.9 percent to 4.65 million units, and their market share dropped by 30.5 percent.
Gas is still the most popular tool in the EU, with sales of up to 5.2 percent to 8.96 million, and market share increased by over 2 percent to 58.9 percent.
