The private sector is key to accelerating economic growth, job creation and fighting poverty, yet policies of the ruling central and municipal institutions should support and encourage private enterprise investments so that they can play their proper role in improving the socio-economic situation”, the report says.
OECA says that according to constitutional provisions, the free competition market economy is the basis of Kosovo's economic adjustment.

“in this regard, government and municipal initiatives and decisions should be in line with the above provisions and should not be an obstacle to strengthening the private sector. The American Economic Oda in Kosovo expresses its concern over the decisions of several Communist countries across Kosovo to ban business work on Sunday, which will limit economic activities, and will therefore affect slow economic growth in general”, it is said further in response.
The American Oda believes that limiting business work will have implications in deepening the country's further unemployment rate, contrary to the overall efforts to strengthen the private sector, create new jobs and improve citizens' welfare.
“Connecting to the reasonings of some local authorities, the American Oda recalls that relations between employers and employers, including employee work schedules, weekly breaks, overtime, weekends and official holiday days, are regulated with the Labour Law, and state authorities should ensure the proper implementation of these provisions by employers”, it is said in response.
Finally, the American Economic Oda calls on municipalities who have already made such decisions to review them, as well as to consider private sector concerns and recommendations before making such decisions that impose restrictions on the work of the latter.
