Papua New Guinea was hit today by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake, the US Geological Survey research has revealed.
The earthquake has reportedly hit East New Britain, which is 20 miles [30 km] near the capital of Copoko, transmits Telegragraphy.
Although the quakes were on the coast, authorities have said there is no danger that there might be a tsunami.
The locals have felt powerful quakes, as a result of the earthquake strike, the situation has not yet returned to normality because there is constant trembling.
But since the area is not very populated, there has been no major panic among people until buildings from hard, well - worked materials have weathered the quake.
So far, it wasn't reported on any human injuries or major injuries to objects.
