The first Turkish car batteries will be produced in the country, said Turkey's Automobile Initiative Group General Director (TOGG), the Anadolu Agency reported.

Under the memorandum of understanding with the global battery giant Farasis, a joint venture will be formed in Turkey, Gürcan Karakaş stressed during Turkey's Innovation Week held by the Turkish Exporters' Assembly.

The joint company will also focus on energy storage solutions, he underlined.

Speaking to the TOG-made factory, he said it would be located at an area of 1.2 million square metres and will have production capacity of 175,000 units annually.

In the first phase, TOGGG will produce sports vehicles from the C (SUV) segment, followed by the C segment sedan, the C-section, SUV of the segment B and vehicle with many goals of segment C.

TOGG was established in 2018 under Turkey's Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) by Anadolu Group companies, BMC, Root Group, Turkcell and Zorlu Group through a co-operation.
