Early this week in Nyon, Switzerland, lots were cast for the qualification phase of the World Championship “Catar 2022”.
Kosovo's National Group B joined Spain, Sweden, Greece, Georgia and Sweden. Immediately after the lots, it was the National of Spain that through a reaction from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised doubts about whether the match would take place in Pristina because Spain has not yet recognised Kosovo as a state.
In the matter, in an interview for KosovaPress, Kosovo Football Federation Secretary General Erroll Salihu has spoken, who stressed that the match against Spain, when Kosovo is in the role of locals, will take place in Pristina, while in terms of what is happening in Spain, it is up to them to decide.
Salihu: Opposition against Spain will take place in Pristina. Fortunately for us, it is not just Kosovo's unique case. We have multiple cases now of states between us and if We EFA now begins to make selective policy then football would not develop, maybe as a tournament should be done.
Even Salihu, speaking of KosovaPress, has ruled out Albania as an alternative to a neutral field to the event by saying we have our own stadium and we don't need to play elsewhere.
Salihu: We don't need to play neutral field, we have our stadium.
