Returns Grenelli: Kosovo must strengthen local justice, not bring people to The Hague

Former US Ambassador to Berlin and the emissary of Donald Trump for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Richard Green, in an online discussion held in early December has said that Kosovo and Serbia must deal with internal justice, not The Hague issue. He has also said that the Balkan region must pass [...]
He has also said that the Balkan region must pass the emergency phase and the US later reconsider its military presence, and that it attracts 600 soldiers serving since 1999.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and President Donald Trump's special envoy for Kosovo dialogue Serbia, Richard Grenelli, has held an online discussion with members of the Centre for Relations and International Policy that operates within the Institute for Politics and Strategy. There Grenelli spoke of Pristina-Belgrade reports as he said people should not crawl into the past, writes The Tartan.
Grenelli has said that since he has been very close to President Trump and the Secretary of State, both sides of the talks have approached him and have expressed a desire for high-level attention during the negotiations.
He has added that the parties have discussed future growth and economic development, especially the anger they have over the lack of focus on developing the region.
Furthermore, he has acknowledged that the parties have not been close to reaching political agreement, and for that reason, his team's focus has been on the economy.
“We were not at that point to create a political solution”, Grelli was quoted as saying, adding that his team focused on economic growth, more precisely on job creation, and that, as he put it, people should not crawl into the past.
Grenelli had also stressed that negotiations between the sides were difficult. However, he has noted that agreements for air transport, road and railway are good grounds for reaching larger agreements, such as the Economic Normalisation Agreement, which, according to him, require the United States to dig deep into foundations.
He has reiterated that between Kosovo and Serbia, there has never been a conversation about the exchange of territories and that both sides have agreed to make their energy sources more diverse.
Speaking of a perceived “conflict”, Grenelli has said that the Balkans must overcome “the emergency phase and that later the United States should consider shifting over 600 troops currently in Kosovo.
