KEDS promises regular power supply for New Year, in 2021 investment in Dukagjin

However, officials from this company call on all consumers not to use electricity for heating, since there are emortic burdens in some areas.

KED spokesman Viktor Buzhala has told Kosova Preis that this company is prepared for stable electricity supplies for the New Year's holiday.

“KEDS has made network preparation and, of course, along with KESCO it is prepared to have stable power supplies during the holiday season, while citizens should stick to our savings calls, especially the heating power, and avoid this where it is possible to relieve us of the burden as it comes to electricity supply and not for heating”, he stressed.

While, as many companies in the country, KED has suffered a decrease in financial revenues for 2020 as a result of COVID-19.

The drop in revenues in KED is estimated to be around 20m euros, while annual revenues are estimated to be 250m euros.

spokesperson Buzhala stresses that the decline of revenues in the pandemic is about 7 per cent, or a drop in percentages as long as Kosovo's economy shrinks.

“Pandemia is estimated to shrink Kosovo's economy by about 7 per cent, of course it has affected our revenues as well. So there is an impact after the contraction of the economy is the contraction of all activities. [...] This has affected the pandemic situation, it was a serious situation, but over the months everything has stabilised, and today we are on a better and easier way than in the first few months of pandemic. So, everything is going according to the previous dynamic”, Buzhala points out.

He has said that no project is left unfulfilled, even though works according to him had begun in February.

No project has remained unfinished. We haven't been able to complete several projects especially in Pristina, but it's not about lack of revenues or realisation of revenues since we have approved capital investment projects in the ERE. Those projects are under way, it is true that the pandemic has affected. We had started a mega project in the municipality of Pristina worth about 17m euros that envision the introduction of all medium-sized cables underground to avoid all the loads that exist today in some of the capital's neighbourhoods. Alternative access to each consumer in the capital and to remove some two thousand electrical pillars that currently exist through the introduction of cables underground”, he said.

As far as electricity supply is concerned, Buzhala has stressed that electricity has enough electricity, but there is an increase in demand because, as he said, of electricity from many consumers, which is causing enzyme loads in some Kosovo countries.

“electric energy has enough of the local producers and the import share that we have provided is covering the demand. We have a huge growing demand. This year, a considerable portion of consumers have begun to warm up with electricity, leaving especially the diaper that is strange. So this in some areas is creating enzyme overloads. Therefore, the power grid is not designed to operate even electricity and heating. So this network is designed for power supply”, Buzhala followed.

While, regarding plans and investments for 2021, Buzhala has deepened that the main focus for next year will be carried to Dukagjin for investments in Istog, Pec and Gjakova municipalities.

Thus according to him, the underground lines, which are located in Pristina, will also be conducted in these Dukagjin municipalities.

The KEDS, on the other hand, is expected until February to apply for maximum of the allowed revenues in the ZRRE to then deploy this institution in April for new tariffs.
