So Board FIBA Europe has decided that Group B matches of European pre-qualifications for the 2023 World Cup will be held in Pristina.
Kosovo, Slovakia, Iceland and Luxembourg will play in Pristina. The Dardans will face Luxembourg and Slovakia, while the other two matches are Slovakia-Icelandic and Luxembourg-Icelandic.
FIBA thus decided to trust the FBK as well as a major organisation, such as the third window of European pre-qualifications for the 2023 World Cup, following the excellent work the Kosovo Basketball Federation has done in organising FIBA European Championships, U18 men's U18 and FIBA European Championships, B Division, in 2019, events that were held in Pristina. The FIBA has also given FBK the right to organise FIBA European Championships, Division C, men's U16. This championship has had to be held over the summer in Pristina, however, has been postponed for the next summer due to the pandemic with Coddy-19.
After successfully holding the respective qualifying matches in November, the third and final window of all three races will also be organised as tours of protected facilities in order to ensure the health and safety of all participants, FIBA reports.
The most important criteria in choosing hosts, such as for previous windows, were health and travel guarantees and compliance with FIBA health protocols, including testing and access checked in a safe environment.
Kosovo's Basketball Federation vows it will work at full effort, so that these matches can be held without a problem, respecting safeguards.
Kosovo in four matches held in Group B, has two victories and two losses, as well as Slovakia, while Iceland is a three-win leader and one defeat, while Luxembourg has a victory and three defeats.
If the Dardans scored two victories in Pristina, they would qualify in the next circle, which would be a success for Kosovo basketball.
