The political situation in Kosovo continues to be tense, as political forces have not yet agreed to elect the new president following Hashim Thaci's resignation, which is being tried by the Special Court for War Crimes in Kosovo.
While Ramush Haradinaj has announced his candidacy to be Kosovo president, the Democratic Party of Kosovo has flatly rejected his candidacy. This, according to Enver Hoxhaj, is not the proper president for Kosovo.
“We are in a very divided domestic situation and at the same time the interest for Kosovo and over Kosovo is losing” every day, says Mr. Hoxhaj during an interview for Balkan Talks.
He says if The PDK will be part of an agreement to elect the new president of Kosovo, then the name must be proposed by them.
They must give us a chance after Mr. Thaci. If someone asks for their votes The PDK will then have to have the PDK proposal. We will propose someone who may be a member of the leadership or be a Kosovo MP or a new party member”, says Enver Hoxhaj.
Journalist Fanko Egro during the interview stopped to question whether The PDK has received a direct or indirect invitation to be part of the ruling coalition. Mr. Hoxhaj said he has not received an invitation so far.
