It became known that Hoti had dismissed Gashi from his position after two AKI inspectors had attempted to obtain confidential documents from the presidency's vault a day after President Thaci was arrested by the Special Prosecutor.
Gashi had reported to the closed meeting of the Commission for AKI Labor Supervisor twice within two weeks.
Kreshnik Gashi had come to this position following his appointment to Ramush Haradinaj as prime minister in office.

These decisions belonged firmly to the new government, after the scan of the existing situation and the identification of obstacles to the successful operation of each of them”, Kurti wrote in late November 2019 in response to Haradinaj's appointment.
And although Kurti had remained as prime minister for nearly 100 days (including days as prime minister in office), he had not made the decision to dismiss Kreshnik Gashi from this position. /Periscope
