This is how the World Cup was stolen

In 1970, the Brazilian team won the world title in football for the third time, allowing themselves to hold the original gold cup forever, as had been determined by its first chairman. FIFA, Jules Rimet, in 1929.
The cup was kept on display at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Confederate in Rio de Janeiro in a lead - resistant glass cabinet.
On December 19, 1983, the back of the cabinet was split with a lever, and the cup was stolen.
Four people were sentenced in absentia. The cup has not been found as it is believed to have melted, turning into bars or gold plates.
