Bislimi: Lack of oxygen and medicine in hospitals is costing our citizens life

Kosovo's Democratic Youth Chairman, once PDK chairmanship member Donjet Bislimi has held a media conference, where he has expressed concern over the burdened situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, and has asked the Health Ministry to provide an anti vaccine. - CO VID, because the number of deaths has increased in Kosovo, by [...]
He expressed his anger at the Ministry of Health and the government of Kosovo for mismanagement of hospitals and the entire health system, which has already been demonstrated by media reports. The “Medias have already testified to the lack of basic conditions, invasive examinations and insulations of hospitals that treat patients infected by coronarys.
While the odds are high enough for this government to come up with great success in budget expenditures, citizens have no oxygen, which is vital to the survival of the sick, and are forced to search for it on the private market. The same serious situation is seen with drugs where the Ministry of Health has not taken steps to meet the needs of patients who are being forced to buy drugs at high prices. We as the PDK are shocked by lack of oxygen in our hospitals and someone should be responsible for that.”, Bislim said.
He called for an account from competent institutions for the crisis created as a cause of lack of oxygen for patients with COVID -19 and called for general mobilization to manage this crisis.
His full speech:
Honored media representatives, honoured citizens, on behalf of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, expressed great concern over the serious state of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increase in the number of deaths, exceeding many countries in the world. The deterioration of the situation is showing that the current government measures are not functioning while the economy is paying daily costs as a result of non-Efficies blocking measures. We express deep anger at the ministry of health, the government of Kosovo, for poor management of hospitals and the entire health system, which has already been demonstrated by media reports. The images coming from clinics and hospitals throughout Kosovo, confessions and experiences of patients, their family, and my experience as a doctor since the beginning of the pandemic are really shocking and unacceptable to the situation we are in. Now each of us is affected by pandemics; in our families; we have friends and people we know we have lost in this disease. Therefore, on behalf of the Democratic Party, I express the most sincere condolences. At the same time, we express our deep gratitude and solidarity with doctors, nurses, the Sanitarians of all those who are today in direct confrontation with the Coronavirus. We express the greatest support for the work of health workers and have great regret that many of them have been infected because of lack of proper protective means. The media have already testified to the lack of basic conditions, examinations and the necessary isolation of hospitals, where they treat coronary-infected patients. While the odds are high that this government will end up with great success in budget expenditures, citizens have no oxygen, which is vital to the survival of the sick, and are forced to search for it on the private market. The same serious situation is seen with drugs, where the health ministry has not taken measures to meet the needs of patients who are being forced to buy drugs at high prices. Likewise, we like the PDK are shocked by lack of oxygen in our hospitals. And someone has to be responsible for that. We are already entering the 10th month of early pandemic in Kosovo, and there is no excuse for lack of drugs, equipment, oxygen supplies or adequate health staff. There has been more than enough time to prepare and the continuation of all these shortcomings merit extraordinary political irresponsability and significant lack of ability to govern the country in this difficult time. Another major problem manifesting itself in dealing with pandemic is the issue of providing anti - vaccines - CO VID. While the discovery of vaccines and the beginning of their use in Western countries have dominated international media and mobilised all the governments of the region, the government Hoti has not yet unveiled any plans on how and when to provide vaccines for Kosovo citizens. We even see him engaged in political appointments and dismissals instead of engaging in saving the lives of our citizens. We are alarmed that failure can be repeated with seasonal flu vaccines, which were secured in Kosovo by 3 months late, as winter season has already begun. The irresponsability, inadequacy and lack of sensitivity of the two governments -- that former Kurti and Hoti -- are devoting precious lives to Kosovo. Any delay in providing an anti vaccine - CO VID, translated into lost lives. Any continuation of drug, oxygen, vehicles or health staff shortages also adds to the already severe balance of coronary deaths. Kosovo's Democratic Party calls for a serious emergency mobilization of the Government in terms of domestic pandemic management, which provides an anti vaccine - CO VID and addressing the absences mentioned in our health system become the number one priority of society. We also call on civil society, media, and all public opinion to pressure the government to move quickly to fulfill its public health duties and obligations. I take advantage of the opportunity to appeal to citizens as well as to apply strict precautionary measures to keep social distance and to increase care for personal hygiene as well as the most endangered citizens.
