Balaj-Halimaj: Specialist brought to justice those who committed genocide against Albanian civilians

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Albulen Balaj-Halimaj said that one of the executive commitments is for the genocide in Kosovo to be recognised internationally and the victims and family members to be treated fairly. In her speech at the Kosovo Assembly session for the international commemoration and honour of genocide victims, [...]
She said she is engaged in visits and conversations with various organisations and commissions representing families of missing persons and according to her.
“In the birthplace of the prominent intellectual and major national affairs event, Ukshin Hoti, Serbian forces executed 243 Albanian civilians of both genders and all ages, while in Krusha, Krusha, 113 children, women, old men and civil men. From this meeting, as well as other meetings of this nature, were required that Kosovo Specialised Chambers and Kosovo's Specialised Prosecutor's Office bring to justice all those who committed crimes against the Albanian civilian population during the war in Kosovo! All of our state institutions and nongovernmental organisations should continue working with much greater persistence until the responsibilities of genocide crime in Kosovo are brought to justice”, she said.
She said the genocide in Kosovo was committed by Serbian forces.
“In Kosovo, genocide has made Serb forces within the policy of genocide against Albanians, and we must be careful when trying to shed light on this form of genocide because we risk individualising a planned crime by the state. Sexual violence has serious consequences for the direct victim of this violence. But when sexual violence became the function of a group's destruction strategy, such as the violations of Albanians in Kosovo, then the purpose of sexual assaults is not only the destruction of direct victims, but, through violations, was intended to violate the mental integrity of the victims and relatives, of the entire group.”, Balaj-Halimaj said.
She recalled the resolution adopted in the Kosovo Assembly, where January 15th was set for the commemoration of the genocide that the Serbian state has committed against Kosovo Albanians, and called on MPs mobilized for marking this day on January 15th.
