Brikena Hoxha, director of the Kosovar Initiative for Stability (IKS), has said the findings are extremely disturbing, because most workers have remained vulnerable to the laws in power in Kosovo.
Kosovo's <x0 potential for stability as part of the coalition for social justice and socio-economic rights in its activities this year, having much contact with social partners and close co-operation with the labour inspectors, we have decided to do this research a little different with 80 companies in the country, but not with workers, but with the owners of companies”.
The “found is extremely disturbing when we know over 57% of employers say that most payments are fully carried out in cash and of course for workers who remain vulnerable to the laws in power in Kosovo”.
While the Schaip, researcher at the IKS, stressed that the Law for Health and Safety at Work remains unmet.
He even said that a large part of those employed in Kosovo were directly threatened by a natural disaster or an accident.
We actually did research with 80 companies in the private sector to measure the level of working Law monitoring and security and health at work. A sharp increase in informality has been observed in periods of stumbling. But above all the violations continue to be the same as the free days of vacation paid for on medical vacations or lehonia breaks and during festive days”.
“While in terms of the Law for Health and Safety at work, it has been gently implemented. Whether in the public or in the private sector, most employers for that job fail to fulfill legal obligations in the Certificate of their staff in emergency situations, security and health at work. A large part of the employees in Kosovo were directly endangered by life if a natural disaster occurs, an accident for lack of the fact that no one has to offer the first aid at work”.
According to him, there has been a positive trend in the first three months of this year, reports EO.
“Raport also had a perspective for the first three months of 2020. We've had companies that are involved in these 80 companies or make employment increases over 38 positions. The first positions have been opened in the first three months of 2020 in this period, about 16 contracts have been cut, even those most of them that have been terminated are or are not continuing the contract. We've had a positive trend in the first three months”.
But the months after the pandemic, we've noticed that businesses that were infected with social distance measures have put their workers in motion, or part of them have shut down the whole”.
