The balance of COVIDD-19 in Kosovo stands down every day.
Department Director i n Communication with the public at the Ministry of Health of Kosovo, Faik Hoti, said the COVID-19 situation in this state is serious. According to him, once more measures taken by the government at this time of pandemic must be reviewed, as the number of infected and victims has increased dramatically.
“The situation here is similar in the countries of the region. In Kosovo, the situation in terms of COVID-19 reflects being very serious, with a burden of hospital capacity, a large number of those who result positive in COVID, with a forecast that we will have for a long time, such figures that need to be managed.
They will request a review of the measures and see what the effects of the measures taken so far” have been, he told Euronews Albania.
The number of positive cases still remains to concern us, and for us it is the number of those ending with fatality”, he said further.
Hoti underlined that he has so far faced the influx of infected people to hospitals.
If we are correct, we have predicted that at this time there will be an increase in positive cases. So far we have met the flood with all the burdens. About 1/3 of the cases are handled at the University Clinical Centre and its clinics, while 2/3 are treated in 7 regional hospitals. We have a busy situation, but so far it's managed”, Hoti said.
Hoti further explained that there is not yet a legal scheme for remuneration of drugs in Kosovo.
Unfortunately, the health insurance scheme is not yet functioning in Kosovo. The Ministry of Health provides all the drugs for public health services, along with hospital service and University Clinic in Kosovo, for distribution through medical services that clinics offer.
There is no remuneration of drugs that patients use during home medicine.
There is no legal scheme for remunturing domestic therapy”, he said.
