Today, the Democratic Party in Pristina has held a media conference, where it has sought to implement Pristina's Municipal Assembly decision to free citizens from paying public transportation for the next four months.
Ambistics i PDK in Pristina municipality, Leutrim Retkoceri, said that from November 11th, the proposal of The PDK is the decision, after being voted by most asambitists and as such, must be implemented by the mayor of the Pristina municipality, as the Article 12 of the Law on Local Self-government imposes.
“right now that we're talking, the municipality has 60 %s of its budget unstopped. So that's enough argument to get citizens out of paying Urban Traffic and the cost of citizens to subsidise the Pristina municipality through a budget that hasn't spent”, Retkoceri noted, news reports.
Subheader PDK in Pristina, Iliric Musliu, expressed concern about the high level of air pollution in the capital, also considering the threat facing citizens of the COVID-19 virus.
“earlier this month we proposed offering free public transportation from November to March for citizens travelling to Pristina, which will affect lower driving and improving air quality. This measure will be valid for all lines and for all citizens without exception by urging them to use public transportation rather than private cars”, he said.
Proposal to free citizens from payment to Urban Traffic submitted by the Asamblist PDK in Pristina, Leutrim Retkozeri, at the Municipal Assembly session on November 11th, was approved by the Asamist with 22 votes for, 7 against and a abstention.
PDK in Pristina considers that implementation of this decision dismisss traffic within the city, protects the environment from pollution and saves citizens' money. /
