KEDS and the Pec municipality have joined forces Wednesday to invest over 2m euros in Rugova's electricity network. This has been reached after the deal was signed by KEDS Chief Executive Chief Mr. Alper Erbas and Head of Pec, Mr. Gazmend Mujarrier.
“The whole network will be replaced with the new network, including all villages in this three. So 89 kilometers will be a whole new line, much underground. So, services for this part will be much more quality”, Erbas said.
KEDS had inherited an old-fashioned network in that part, but now everything will be over.
“KEDS is constantly investing throughout the country, and this is good news for citizens. The investment in Rugova is vital to the development of tourism in the Rugova region, which also directly affects economic development”, Mujarri said.
The project will start immediately and is envisioned in the shortest possible period.
This line will also have the possibility of doubling capacities, resolving the power supply issue of this long-standing Kosovo tourist three.
Problem also has been the passage of airlines into difficult terrain and with trees, whose branches constantly fell on the wire, causing frequent deterioration. Currently, most will be on the side of the road and with underground cables for the most part, permanently eliminating such defects or painful interventions.
But this will not be the only investment KEDS has provided for the Dukagjin region. In its three cities, in Peja, Gjakova and Istog respectively, will place the Mestram Tension lines underground and double capacity from 10 to 20 kilovolts, the same as is being done in Pristina.
This investment will cause weather conditions, especially powerful winds that hit most of this part of the country, to have minimal impact on electricity supply, as if overloaded and alternative consumer lines are developed.
