Nikola Pekovic's family says he is in stable condition and breathes independently without respiratory equipment, contrary to previous reports from the Serbian site Telegraf.
Pekovic is in a hospital in Podgorica, Montenegro, after being infected with coronobrus.
Pekovic, a 2009 EuroLeaga champion with Panathinaikos, played 271 NBA matches with Minnesota Timberwes.
