Online Kosovo writes that from the KLA's alleged crimes Tribunal to the present day, five years after the establishment, only two acts have been officially established.
According to this media media operating in Kosovo, unlike The Hague Tribunal, gathering evidence of alleged KLA crimes is much more difficult.
“Some of the relevant documents and material no longer exist, some witnesses to events have long passed away, and there is a lack of political will expressed to wholeheartedly support this project”, writes KosovoOnline.
Finally, this slow move toward justice and truth, burdened by numerous obstacles and the substantial interest of those who have filled their mouths with human rights and freedoms, has been questioned by a new compromise of the court's specialised organs.
For three weeks, someone has submitted extensive documentation to the Office of the War Veterans Organisation, which directly deals with ongoing investigations, witness names and evidence. First, “submitted” 4,000 files, then correspondence between institutions of the Republic of Serbia and the Office of Specialised Prosecutor (remembered crimes in Drenica, Jablanica and Klecka), then files allegedly linked directly to the highest political figures that built their career through the KLA system, writes away KosovoOnline.
Court officials went to the veterans' office in the afternoon to get the material that someone brought out of it by noon. Logically, if confidential material was handed over to representatives of the organization mentioned, he was certainly delivered to several other addresses.
The KLA court was in grave embarrassment before it started working with full capacity, as it was announced. Despite being established with a decision in Pristina, the Court is based in The Hague, based on previous experiences of international institutions (including the tribunal for the former Yugoslavia), and procedures for classification and protection of information cannot differ much from those in power at The Hague Tribunal.
Given what has been seen so far, it would not be surprising that the entire tribunal archive has already been preserved on some safe servers from which it will be distributed to public, media, suspects, anyone who needs it and when it needs it. Under such conditions, how can we talk about independent jobs, unhindered investigations, fair judgments, protected witnesses?
So far, doubts about the effectiveness of the tribunal's work have been caused by the bad “cognition”, activities that are in no way comparable to intensity and scope with the dynamics of the work of The Hague Tribunal.
According to KosovoOnline, the Special Court was created with reluctance, following issuing information about crimes that could no longer be concealed.
To some extent, after Dick Marty's report, this was the obligation of the international community. However, what happened later was an attempt to prevent and compromise this organ completely. This is the last act of this process today.
It is not in the interest of all criminals from Albanian paramilitary formations to be sentenced to”, the medium writes.
