The president's post has become an apple of contention between the ruling coalition partners, LDK and AAK.
The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), now and how long it's being “crashed” to each other for the post of head of state.
It is the AAK who had proposed Ramush Haradinaj for the presidential post a few months ago, saying he would not vote on any other candidate.
This AAK decision makes the work of the ruling coalition difficult, but these statements and this AAK stance have also sparked reactions of the LDK.
It was LDK's first self, Isa Mustafa, who had declared that he personally does not want the presidential post and that his party does not want that post, since they already have the prime minister.
I quit, we have the prime minister. As a party, as we are, it is not up to us to have both the president and the prime minister. We want this government to continue, to produce results. Let's see how other political subjects will reflect”, Mustafa declared in September a TV interview, writes news.
But the LDK now seems to have changed its stance. The deputy chairman of this subject, Lutfi Haziri during Monday day, has declared that the LDK has no other name for the post except party leader Isa Mustafa.
“Ende we have no agreement for president, I repeat repeatedly that LDK has offered its constructive role to give the country stability. We are for a consensual president, the more consensual in the Republic Parliament, beyond if there is a chance in order to give the country stability. The LDK has not talked to anyone about the issue of dividing the president's role. If the LDK is on a warrant, or the LDK has to lead it, we believe we will make our contribution and have no other name but Isa Mustafa. The LDK agrees principally with each name, which draws all sides, all parties in the Republic Assembly to elect a president as consistent as possible”, Hasiri has said of Kosova Prees.
On the other hand, despite having not been formalised, it is former Kosovo Ambassador to the US Vlora Citaku, who is allegedly a PDK candidate for the presidential post.
However, such a thing has not been formally mentioned by the Democratic Party of Kosovo. The deputy chairman of this party, Schikir Totaj, had stated in an interview that no proposals for the country's presidential candidates have been made on this political subject.
I can't give any of my own opinion about who my preference might be, it's left out what the following days' developments will be:x1>, Totaj had declared.
But despite these proposals and the wishes of political parties, the president can in no way be elected without the involvement of opposition parties, Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic Party of Kosovo.
Officials of political issues in the country had declared news.net, that the president cannot be elected in any way unless opposition parties are involved, since the ruling coalition has no votes needed to elect any candidate for the post.
We point out that Hashim Thaci had been elected president of the country on February 26, 2016, but he was given his duty on April 7th that year after his mandate was expired, Atifete Jahjaga.
Otherwise, Hashim Thaci expires the president's term in April 2021.
