Theophylos I II, the Greek Patriarch Orthodox of Jerusalem and the chairman of the Council of the Churchs of the Holy Land condemned French behavior to Islamic sentiment by taking defense, on behalf of freedom of speech and thought, the alleged cartoons of Prophet Muhammad.
He said in a statement that he was looking with much concern at the state of polarisation that was born from this behavior in France, in which President Macron himself stands.
He condemned insults of Islam with the same force “as if the insult to hitting any other monotheistic religion”.
Theophilos III also condemned all acts of violence directed to those with different opinions or religious beliefs, demanding that civilized dialogue be the only method of interaction to reduce intellectual and ideological gaps between religions and various ideologys.
