Democratic Party of Kosovo Deputy Chairman Enver Hoxhaj has seen the news as a disturbing sign that Russia will open the Defence Ministry office in Serbia.
Hoxhaj has reacted to his Twitter account, saying that “this presents a challenge to neighbours and the most extensive Atlantic orientation”.
“The Russian government's announcement to open an office of their Ministry of Defence in Serbia is a disturbing sign of Russia's ever closer military presence in Serbia, thus presenting a challenge to neighbouring and Euro-Atlantic orientation of the wider region”, the deputy chairman of Serbia has declared PDK.
Reuters news agency reported on the opening of a defence ministry office from Russia to Serbia, which would give Russian officials a mandate to visit military divisions using Russian weapons and other military equipment.
Serbia last month suspended military exercises with foreign troops for six months, citing pressure from the EU to withdraw from joint exercises with Russia and Belarus.
