Football boycott coming in in Albania

The Professional Football League decides to continue the boycott.

LPF President Edwin Libohova himself gives the news.

“After discussions are decided to continue, until the moment the requests are resolved. We are awaiting a meeting with the government. The decision to continue the boycott was unanimous“, Libohova expressed.

The decision was made after a meeting held in “Air Albania”, where, in addition to the presidents of football clubs, FSF Secretary General Ilir Shulku and chief of competitions at the Marius Sulejmani institution attended.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in a first few days public appearance, ignored the demands of clubs by offering no solution, while their boycott has been supported by the U. EFA and FIFA.

Full letter that FIFA and U EFA was sent by F SHF:

Dear Secretary-General,

We have been notified of your September 21st 2020 letter concerning the situation of the Royal Catagoria in Albania and the decision to boycott the start of the 2020/21 season. We understand that this decision, which is backed by the FSHF, comes from the current rejection of the Albanian government to adopt a series of key reforms under the legal framework, affecting professional football clubs in your country.
As you know, FIFA and UEFA generally encourage the creation of an inclusive national regulatory framework that supports football development at all levels. The importance of maintaining a close and constructive working relationship between football organs and government authorities (in line with their rights and respective responsibilities) does not need to be overestimated. This is especially true of the unprecedented challenges football has experienced as a result of the COVID-19 influences. These challenges called for and continue to require an extraordinary level of cooperation.
FIFA and UEFA encourage the Albanian government and the FSHF to find reasonable and adaptable solutions for the demands of Albanian football clubs so that the season can begin without further delay.
