The PDK deputy's statement, Mergim Lushtaku, who has said it will vote against Kosovo's civil draft, as it includes allowing equal-gender marriage, has been highly welcomed by the LGBT community in Kosovo..
He had said these kinds of unions conflict with his personal beliefs, so “will vote against”.
As opposed to reaction, the LGBT community has held an action before PDK offices in Pristina.
Some of the members also held placards in their hands, while Lendi Mustafa, Kosovo's Trans-Summer Rights activist, as well as Kosovo's first transgjior, writes:
Where are the PDK deputies who called me coffee during the pre-election campaign?
They wanted how much respect they had for me and the work I do, and asked me for information on how they could help us out.
Now, you have the opportunity to react. You have the opportunity to educate your colleagues who have replaced the constitution with Qurão, and the laws of the Republic of Kosovo with Hadith.
Now, you have the opportunity to go out in support and counter such statements, that neutrality never works.
With neutrality, you're supporting the Lushtak couple.
If we see campaigning against same-gender marriage, we'll also see campaigning in our behalf, if we get together on support.
