Ilir Murtezaj, who has so far exercised the position of Kosovo Tax Administration director, is surprised at Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti's decision to free him from the manager's position.
In a conversation for Radio Free Europe, Murtezaj shows he has not been informed in advance of such a decision.
For me it is surprising news, because I have never had a meeting with Finance Minister Hykmete Bajrami or Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, to discuss these topics”, he has declared.
However, the Kosovo Government's decision calls “bonus for ATK's achieved results during the period 2019 -20”.
“Based on all estimates, such as local and international reports, such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and recently the Progress Report, is highly regarded during 2019-2020, at the time I governed this institution”, Murtezaj said.
The European Union in the report for Kosovo, released days ago, “has praised reforms in ATK, such as reforming organisational structure, improving debt collection management processes, as well as dealing with high risk sectors”.
On October 16th, Hoti has also freed Kosovo Customs General Director Ibrahim Jaka from office.
Radio Free Europe has also attempted to contact him to comment on his release from duty, but he has been calm.
Neither has the Kosovo government given any reason for their dismissal.
But Friday, Prime Minister Hoti has dismissed Kosovo Police General Director Rashit Qaljan from office.
In accordance with the Law on Police, Prime Minister Hoti has appointed Mr. Samedin Mehmetin, task manager of Kosovo Police Director-General”, is also said in the statement.
Qalaj was appointed to this position on August 28th of 2018 by then Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
Before that position, Qalaj served as director of the Kosovo Police Department of Operations.
