Over 300 cars stolen from Europol, some even from Kosovo

A total of 352 stolen cars have been confiscated while on the road for their final destination, as a result of an operation supported by the European Union's Agency for Winding of Law (EUROPOL). In the 12-24 October period this year, some 44,548 checks of different databases have been said to have been conducted.
The search operation, led by the European Border Agency (FRONTEX), is focused on controls across border crossings and other land activities in 17 European Union countries and five Balkan region states.
The countries involved in this operation have been: Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Holland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Spain.
“In close co-operation with the private industry, including the auto industry, ship producers, and rented companies, along with EUROOPOL data, officials for border controls at the EU's external borders have prevented the smuggling of many cars and vessels further across the 11x1>, has been said in an EUROPOL media communique.
It has also been said that activities focused on car and ship controls have resulted in the capture of 2,965 illegal migrants on the road to the EU, via land and air routes.
As a result, 17 persons who have served as middlemen for smuggling of migrants have been located and arrested.
