The social Twitter network said it will test new options, enabling users to check who can respond to their posts, or block the answers completely.
“We want to help people feel safe when they participate in conversations on Twitter”, the company said.
The move comes as social media companies are under increased pressure to address so-called online harassment.
Twitter already offers an option that allows users to hide the answers in their posts.
The company announced the experiment they will do this year during a presentation in Las Vegas.
In 2018, Twitter chief Jack Dorsey promised to improve “the health of” of public conversation.
