Thaci on the phone with Borrell: New Government and Dialogue With Serbia Soon

The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has held a telephone conversation with EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell, with whom he has discussed European prospects and developments in Kosovo and the region.
President Thaci and the EU High Representative agreed on the need to establish the new governing institutions in Kosovo as soon as possible.
“We are aware that major tasks await us and that it is necessary that as soon as we have new Government, which will face challenges and fulfill the international obligations Kosovo has”, President Thaci said.
President Thaci has stressed that Kosovo is committed to complete the reforms it has launched and which are determining for Kosovo's EU membership.
President Thaci demanded that the EU fulfil the obligation to abolish visas for Kosovo citizens, because Kosovo has met all necessary criteria.
Kosovo has met all conditions. Parliament and the European Commission have recommended lifting visas for Kosovo. Kosovo citizens rightly expect merit decisions at this point”, President Thaci said in the telephone conversation with High Representative Borrell.
President Thaci and the EU High Representative agreed about the need to continue unconditional dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the necessity of reaching the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which implies mutual recognition between the two states.
At the end of the conversation, President Thaci has said he welcomes EU High Representative Josep Borrell's visit to the Republic of Kosovo.
