The mistake of the number of sexual relations leads to serious misunderstandings, since man always considers a person's sexual performance before assuming how often everyone has it.
The author of Perils of Perception, Bobby Duffy, found out this “extraordinary mistakes” for the BBC.
As part of Ipso's long studies, people throughout the United Kingdom and the United States have been asked to assume how often people between the ages of 18 and 29 have had sex in the last month.
The average assumption for young people in both countries is that they have had 14 sexual relations in the past four weeks.
But the real number is only five in Britain and four in the US”, Duffy explained.
According to these assumptions, young people had sex every day, meaning about 180 times a year. In reality, that number is about 50 times. But that is not even the greatest concept of the misunderstanding people have.
“Bours are completely mistaken when it comes to the sex life of young women”, says Duffy, stressing that men think that young British women have 22 sexual relations per month, and in the United States that number is 23. In reality, this is only five times.
