The wine vat brings mold home: 20-minute action that helps against humidity

Warm weather brings us out more often, but inside the home it can create ideal conditions for mold showing. Bathrooms, basements, laundry, and other wet spaces are more endangered during the summer, especially when wet levels increase in the air and surfaces are not well dry.

Mold is a type of mushroom that usually appears as white or gray spots, with dust images, shower walls, fugs, window saws, or other surfaces where moisture lies. It often remains on the surface, but if it does not leave in time, it can spread and become an ongoing problem.

Why does mold appear more often during the summer?

High temperatures and excess humidity are the most favorable combination for mold development. The shower vapor, wet towels, bathing suit, clothing, and poor air flow make it more likely that moisture remains longer in the home.

Home maintenance expert Dan DiClerico points out that mold develops in warm, wet conditions, which are more frequent during summer months. According to him, good ventilation is one of the main ways to prevent this problem.

The biggest mistake is to allow moisture to stay on the surface. In bathrooms, basements, and slow drying spaces, mold can be revealed very quickly if there is no regular ventilation and drying. For this reason, prevention begins not only when the spots become visible but when moisture occurs.

20-minute action that makes the difference

Bathing is one of the most easily developed molds, for steam remains behind the shower. If you have air vents, leave them on at least 20 minutes after the shower, especially during hot and damp days.

If you don't have a fan, open the window for about an hour, so the wet air gets out. The same is true of laundry, basements, and space where clothes are dried. The better air circulates, the less likely it is to develop mold. The bathroom door, when possible, can also be left slightly open after the shower so that the steam does not remain blocked in a small space.

Keep humidity under control

One of the most useful measures is to control the moisture level at home. In troubled areas, especially in the basement, it can help to use a damping machine. The goal is to keep moisture below 50 percent, since molds and other microorganisms are more easily multiplied.

After the shower, you can sweep the cabin walls, the door, and the tub of rubber wipers to make the surface dry faster. Do not leave wet towels, bathing clothes, sporting clothes, or cleaning rags collected in baskets, bags, or closets. The faster the wet cloths are ventilated or washed, the smaller the risk of mold.

Even small water flows should not be ignored. Regularly check the area under the sink, around the toilet, near the washing machine, and near the windows. Hidden moisture can become a constant source of the problem, especially if the surrounding material absorbs water and dries up slowly.

During very wet periods, clean your shower cabin, fugs, bathtubs, and windows. In cellars and attics, avoid the preservation of books, cardboard boxes, sheets, or textile furniture because these materials absorb moisture and can smell mold.

What can you do if mold appears?

If you notice small surface spots, they can usually be cleaned up with specific products against mold, respecting use guidelines and properly venturing space. Do not mix cleaning products together, especially those containing bleaching, for dangerous vapors can be created.

But if molds are constantly restored, surfaced, or accompanied by severe moisture, it can be deeper and requires professional intervention.

The key is to act early: shower ventilation, drying the surface, checking moisture, and cleaning. Such simple habits can keep the house dryer, cleaner, and safer during the summer. /Telegraphy/
