Eating iron - rich foods with vitamin C, such as tomatoes, peppers, or berries, can improve iron levels.
Proper intake of folic acid is also necessary during pregnancy to protect the fetus from nervous tube defects. A green cup of beans provides approximately 10 percent of the daily needs of folic acid and 6 percent of the iron.
