Following criminal discussion of the Nongovernmental Organisations to Environment and Spatial Planning Ministry Secretary Arben Citaku has reacted to construction on Badovci Lake.
MMPH's move calls the pressure on public officials, while stressing that the only organ that can dispute the ministry's decisions is the courts.
We estimate such actions as pressure on public officials, who despite the situation and political uncertainties, are among the main pillars of the functioning of the Republic of Kosovo, until their responsibilities are determined by law. So we further assess that the concentration and curture of individual names from such non-governmental groups are aimed at publicly lynching the same officials and displaceing the attention of the opinion, unjustly oriented, public dissatisfaction with interrelated problems at Badovci Lake from Town to MMPH. For us as an institution, as well as for all MMPH personnel, such actions are unacceptable, even insulting”, the MMPH's response says.
In response, it points out that the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning is the institution that acts transparently, according to the competencies prescribed by law.
“In the specific case of construction in the area near Lake Badovci, we have offered full access to the interests and media representatives in all the documents associated with this case and the same approach we will have with justice organs, with the aim of arguing the legality of our” decisions, is highlighted further in the MMPH response.
This minister, among other things, assures all citizens that it is committed to exact implementation of the law to protect all water reserves in Kosovo, and with the particular emphasis of Lake Badovci, and that in no case will allow the violation of this law from eventual construction by anyone.
In the end, the MMPH says that it takes into account the environmental challenges of the years to come, only with real co-operation and fair communication, together can bring even better results, always in accordance with the overall public interest and legal framework of the Republic of Kosovo.
The group for Juridical and Political Studies, Balkan Green Foundation Pristina, the Institute for Development Policy and the GAP Institute have handed over criminal tinging to Secretary Arben Citaku for his actions reportedly regarding the construction case in the area of Badovci Lake, calling it an illegal decision and that he has made misuse of official office or authority. /Periscopi/
